Frequently asked questions

Platelets are blood cells that contain growth factors that help with healing. When you extract blood from a patient and isolate the platelets, that concentration is called “Platelet-rich plasma.” Growth factors are essential for replacing aging and damaged skin with healthier, more vibrant tissue.

PRP injections are completely natural, using your body’s own growth factors to rejuvenate the skin. If you’re worried about looking overdone, PRP is a great place to start—it enhances your skin’s quality without adding volume or altering facial movement. While Botox and filler can also look natural when done correctly, PRP offers a subtle, low-risk introduction to injectables.

A PRP injection treatment typically takes between 1-2 hours. This includes the time needed to draw blood, centrifuge the blood, and numb the treatment area.

Most patients notice tighter skin in just one or two weeks. The process of tissue rejuvenation takes time, however, as we are working on the body’s natural timeline. Therefore, you will start to see more significant results at around six weeks post-appointment.

Results from PRP treatments can last for years. Our bodies lose collagen as we age: PRP treatments restore those collagen levels, essentially slowing down the aging process.

However, because PRP comes from your own body, its effectiveness will vary based on your unique biological makeup. In general, the healthier you are, the better your results will be.

You may experience mild swelling or bruising, due to the nature of injections. However, PRP comes from your own body, so adverse effects are extremely rare.

The price of your PRP injections treatment will vary based on your aesthetic goals, age, metabolic rate, and a range of other factors. This is something we’ll discuss in detail during your consultation.

We are an aesthetic practice. Therefore, we do not provide PRP injections in order to treat issues like knee injuries, osteoarthritis, back pain, or any other non-aesthetic concern. If you are interested in using PRP injections to improve your joint or tissue health, we recommend speaking with an orthopedic specialist, sports medicine specialist, or physiatrist.

PRP and Radiesse are both injectable treatments that can improve the appearance of the skin. These “biostimulators” stimulate the body’s natural healing process, but do so in very different ways.

PRP is a natural component of the patient’s blood, whereas Radiesse is a dermal filler.

PRP can take a few months to work, but the results can last for up to two years; Radiesse provides immediate results, but typically only lasts for around a year.

If you want gradual improvement over time, PRP is likely to be your best choice. If you are treating more advanced wrinkles and want immediate results, Radiesse is likely to be your best choice.

Additionally, Radiesse cannot be injected in the under-eye area.

Like always, it’s best to speak with your injector to determine which treatment makes the most sense for your face, preferences, and budget.
