How Microneedling Works
Microneedling uses the SkinPen device to create controlled micro-injuries that trigger your body’s natural healing response.
This process stimulates collagen and elastin production, rebuilding the skin’s structure so it feels firmer, smoother, and stronger over time.
Results are even more transformative with a PDGF add-on, which floods the skin with regenerative growth factors that speed up and supercharge the healing process.

The Best Results Don’t Come from Microneedling Alone
Microneedling smooths fine lines and improves texture by helping your skin rebuild stronger, healthier tissue. But if your wrinkles come from repetitive muscle movement or weakened structure beneath the surface, pairing microneedling with Botox or PDGF injections can create smoother skin that keeps its strength, bounce, and glow for years.
Before and After
How soon can I get back outside after microneedling?
You can return to most daily activities right away, but please avoid sweating, exercise, skiing, saunas, and hot tubs for the first 24 hours while your skin heals. Microneedling causes an open wound in the skin: you do not want that wound to get infected. Makeup can usually be applied the next day. Mild redness or sensitivity is normal for a day or two and typically resolves quickly.
Does microneedling hurt?
Not really. Most patients describe it as feeling like a quick, scratchy sensation. We apply a medical-grade numbing cream before your treatment so you stay comfortable throughout. Afterward, your skin may feel warm or tight for a few hours, similar to a mild sunburn. Redness typically fades within a day or two.
Is microneedling worth it?
Absolutely. Microneedling is one of the easiest ways to start improving your skin’s health and appearance, especially if you’ve never tried a skin treatment before. It strengthens thin, sun-damaged skin and smooths out fine lines and rough texture. Many of our patients who once thought they needed Botox to treat their fine lines and wrinkles discover that healthier, stronger skin was the missing piece all along.
How soon will I see results from microneedling?
Your skin will start to feel smoother within a week, but the real magic happens gradually as new collagen and elastin form. As the skin generates more of these essential proteins, they work to tighten, strengthen, and repair the skin, essentially aging you in reverse. Most patients notice a visible glow and improved texture around four weeks after their first session, with firmer, healthier-looking skin that continues to improve for several months.
How long do microneedling results last?
Results build gradually as your skin produces new collagen and elastin. You’ll notice your skin looking smoother and more even within a few weeks, with continued improvement over the next few months. A series of three treatments builds the foundation, and maintenance every few months keeps skin firm, clear, and glowing.
How often should you get microneedling?
We typically recommend a series of three sessions spaced about a month apart to kickstart collagen production. After that, a few maintenance treatments per year keep your results strong, especially in Summit County, where sun and altitude can be tough on the skin.
