CoolPeel is a little different: it’s a fractional, non-ablative CO2 laser. CoolPeel vaporizes water without destroying the top layer of skin, so you get major resurfacing results without weeks of downtime.

CoolPeel’s two-day downtime is minimal compared to other CO2 lasers, which can require up to two weeks of recovery. Here’s what will happen:

Your skin may be red, scaly, and sensitive for about 48 hours, like a sunburn. Once that 48-hour period is over, you can get back to your favorite outdoor sweat session (with sunscreen and a hat!), makeup, and other regular activities. 

Your skin may feel dry for a week or two, and mild flaking is possible: just keep the skin moisturized and it will pass. 

“It depends” isn’t a fun answer, but it’s the truth. We’ll work together to find the right number of treatments for you, but the majority of our patients achieve their skin goals in just 1-3 treatments. 

Nope! We numb the skin beforehand, so you don’t feel anything beyond warmth or tingling. Your skin might feel sensitive for a couple days following the treatment, like a mild sunburn, but that goes away quickly. Patients usually describe that post-procedure redness as slightly uncomfortable, but not painful.

Most patients describe the sensation of the laser as warmth or mild stinging, with a recovery period of redness, itching, and swelling. You can avoid unnecessary discomfort by following your aftercare instructions carefully. 

Our most aggressive laser treatment, the Skin Smoothing CO2 laser requires about a week of downtime. In return for your patience, this treatment smooths wrinkles by dramatically strengthening the skin.  

A fully-ablative CO2 laser treatment can be slightly uncomfortable, but not painful. Lasers have come a long way, and we use a strong numbing cream, cool air, and other pain management methods to keep you as comfortable as possible. 

You can expect some heat and stinging during the procedure, followed by a recovery period of redness and swelling. Our patients liken the sensation to a sunburn. Just be sure to follow your aftercare instructions carefully!
